Paisac's mission
The initial mission of PAISAC is to participate in the sustainable development of sport in African and Caribbean countries, members of the Francophonie and the Commonwealth, while contributing to the enhancement of the role and function of the technical sports executive and/or the coach, male and female, through training and the improvement of knowledge and skills, in the fields of training and teaching.
It pursues three major objectives:
- Train and/or improve, in sports sciences, high-level coaches and/or trainers from developing countries who need them.
- Train and/or improve, in sports sciences, women to give them the opportunity to get involved in the sports supervision of young girls, while promoting their integration into the sports system of their country, as coaches, trainers or leaders.
- In the medium and long term, encourage sports organizations, institutions and federations to implement their own programs, while benefiting from Canadian-Swiss educational tools and expertise in the field of training, in order to better ensure their autonomy and self-sufficiency in a sustainable manner in this area.
Our history
The African and Caribbean International Sport Support Program, acronym PAISAC, is a Canadian-African international sport development project. It was developed in 1997-99 in Côte d'Ivoire, under the initiative of physical education and sports teaching staff from the National Institute for Youth and Sports (INJS) in Abidjan and the Abidjan sports community, with the contribution of coaches from Gabon and Senegal and the participation of coaches from Gabon and Senegal and the participation of high-level athletes from the Dakar International Athletics Center.
This program is mainly focused on the training of coaches, in sports sciences, a gap unanimously identified in all African coach training programs, by the 170 technical, administrative and senior officials of sports federations, who participated in the exploratory study that served to develop the project.
